  • 250 belt to TT conversion

    Hi All.
Ok so its a copterx 250 but fast becoming an align. The basic kit is ok but the head / swash was rubbish and the tail questionable.

So its got a belt drive tail which I am not against. It just seems to be very tight. No idea how tight the belt should be its just as it came.

Was thinking is there any benefit to changing to TT and is it a easy conversion ??

Just seems to be a massive amount of friction in the belt. Struggles to get the head spinning almost stalls the motor but ones it starts seems ok.

    Cheers

    250 belt to TT conversion

Check the belt for twists, I had a similar problem when I got my Trex 250, could barely turn the main rotors root cause was my belt being twisted

Its difficult to get the right amount of belt tension is a matter of having the belt slack but not to the point where it may jump a tooth, however you can mod the belt to TT but would need every part from front TT gear to rear end & need to glue the tube into front frame.
You can also use the new pro fbl head but will need to cut a bit of the swash links.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

No twists in the belt. I loosened up a bit was very tight. Flew this morning first time with the new head and using my JR radio. Still major issues with the tail. I put a separate post up. Have ordered a align tail to hopefully fix it. Standard one had a massive amount of play.

Can you not get the TT tail box as well? Still not sure if there is any advantage going TT. The little guys touch the tail on the ground fairly easy so maybe belt is best. Just seems to have a lot of friction in it. I loosened off a bit so will see how it goes. Still sorting the tail

Yeah I went for the 250 pro DFC head. I struggled to get the swash low enough. Had all the links in as hard as I could and still a tad long. Didnt think about cutting down. Might give that a go tonight and re set up. I ended up just triming the servo a tad to get 0 deg at mid stick. Guess trimming a couple mm off the link rods with the dermal would do it.

          Cheers
