  • Devo 7 TX and RX help. Anyone got one?

So building a copterx 250 as had a spare 3gx unit and was only 80 quid for the rest.

Had a Devo 7 radio so got a RX for it as only 10 quid opposed to 50 quid for a JR one for my other radio.
Got a 6 channel RX thinking it should be enough. Lost one port to get power to it from the 3gx. Guess I could add some power pins into one of the 3gx signal plugs.

Problem is the 6 channel RX only has Ele, Ail, Tho, Rud, Gear and AUX. So no pitch. Looking on the TX to try and change one of the out puts so I can use gear or AUX for pitch and for the life of me cant work it out.

I actually like the devo 7 radio to use the sticks are nice but the setup and menus are just the worst I have seen. Just so hard to follow.

Anyone got one and have managed to set it up on a heli other than what it comes with?

Looking at my mini model I have set up in there it makes less sense. Has the swash type as "normal" Choose 3 servos 120 deg and turn swash mixing off and nothing moves.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

Ive only ever programmed a devo 9 and that was goddam awful. Like you say they feel ok in the hands and the sticks feel just as good as any. Just to program they are horrid!

And I had that problem with the servos not moving too. Is the tx set to transmit? I know with the 9 you have to tell it to transmit like the expensive futaba's And I kept forgetting LOL

Problem with the servo not moving was I turned swash mixing off. Forgot that that is how you adjust the swash with the 3GX, opps.

My only real problem now is I only got a 6 channel RX thinking it would be enough and there is not pitch output. Only the 4 servos gear and AUX. I dont think I can assign one of them to pitch. So currently the pitch is on the gear switch. Would make for an interesting flight.

I'm slightly confused here because pitch is either a servo as such or a mix of the three swash servos. So for a radio with 7 channel output to not have access to a pitch servo on the first 6 channels (you say the rx is 6channel) can really only mn you haven't managed to put it in helicopter mode r some ther bizarre thing. I just looked up the manual... are you sure you haven't set it for 2 servo 180 swash or something silly?
I'd probably dig out a bunch of spare cheapo servos like something towerpros I have lurking and plug one ito each rx channel withpower ad see what happens with standard swash 120 as to a pitch effect. If the 3GX deals with swash mixing (ie you have separate ail/ele/pit on 90 deg) then try it as 'servo normal' and '3 servo 90'

Or beter still sell that radio and receiver on ebay and just buy a new rx

Worked it out. Put the pitch cable from the 3GX into the AUX port and it just worked. Not really sure why but it does so will run with it.
Just have to sort the damm tail now.
