The motor. I'll be interested in whether they have fixed the vibration on spool up. Doesn't seem to effect performance.

First and fore most, with any build, clean the screws. They are covered in oil when new. This doesn't go well with thread lock. I use cleaning alcohol, and soak them for a few minutes before drying them on a paper towel. look at the oil on the towel.

I put a drop of Threadlock on a plate and dip the screws in as i need them.

You don't need to drown the screws in TL. Just the first three threads is fine, and will make them easier to remove when disassembling after a crash.

Ok Lets get on with it. I have jumped parts of the build due to waiting for the tail servo to arrive.

I take a piece of sandpaper to the edges of the frame. This helps stop wires from getting damaged.

            Attached the canopy posts

The battery tray. I pre-threaded the screw holes before mounting it to the frame. Being plastic I put a dab of CA glue on the thread.

            Elevator servo attached.

The Belt tensioner is fixed without Threadlock at this stage, because it will need to be moved later.

Mounting the mainshaft bearing block. Make sure to have the flanged side of the bearing facing up on the top block and down on the bottom. Ask me how i know this DOH!!!

Make sure the bottom block has the servo screw hole facing forward. Again, ask me how i know this Double DOH!!!!

When pushing screws through the frame pieces, I prefer to put the Threadlock in the screw holes rather than on the screws. This stops the TL from being wiped off onto the frame as you put the screw though.

Frame support and top tray done. Now for the motor.

The frames is complete. I must say this is a super easy build. So few parts and all more like a 500 than a 450. I can see this will be quick and easy to fix after a crash.

I removed one side to put the tail servo in. Looking at the simplicity of this heli, and how easy it is to get at everything, I can see crash repairs being a simple job.

The DS525 installed into the right side larger tail servo mounting position. The left side is for micro tail servos.

                And the frame back together

Went a bit overboard on the Threadlock

Ok, I had a dilemma with the servo ball screws. The manual calls for M2 x 8. These are not long enough to accommodate the carbon supports.

These are all the screws left from the bags in the kit. The ones in the foreground are the only ones the the heads fit flush inside the ball links, but they are only 6mm.

So i went without the carbon plates and the head sticking out of the ball links.

Put some cable sheathing over each of the servo wires.

Stuck the Ikon on and put the ESC inside the frame.

I ended up removing some of the shielding as the bend was too tight and put tension on the wires going into the Ikon. This way the wires are relaxed so no vibrations will be transmitted to the Ikon.

Only a couple of my links need adjusting. These reamer tools are very handy.

Now all the wiring is inside the frame, I could finally tighten the motor mount and belt tensioner screws for the final time.
With all 8 screws loose, pull back on the motor mount to tension the drive belt, then tighten the screws to hold the motor in the right place. Then remove one screw at a time place some threadlock on and replace so as not to loose the tension on the mount

The belt should have 3 to 4 mm of movement. Better to be too tight than too loose.

                      Thanks Snaaakeey

The last stage of the build was to program the IKON. Before i could do that, i had to cut down the tail control rod. Even with the links screwed right in and the servo horn at 90, the tail pitch slider was pushed right over to one side. I trimmed 4mm off the end of the carbon rod. Which as i have found out today, many people have also had to remove 4mm to get the servo 90 and pitch slider centred.
The metal link rod is epoxied in place. To remove it, lightly heat the end with a lighter. This will release the epoxys grip on the carbon rod so you can unscrew it. I trimmed off the 4mm and then rethreaded the rod with epoxy. Now my tail is set up perfectly.

6mm Swash plate levellers are pretty uncommon. So i made one from a 10mm thick piece of G10 cut into a triangle and drilled a 6mm hole though the middle. ( Its great having a friend with a drill press, loads of G10 and Carbon and a CNC machine :D )

My Sat cable is a touch long :D But i wound it round the landing gear supports.
Placed my Sat under the boom clamp

So shes ready for the Maiden :D I would explain how i set up the IKON, but it is so simple to follow i think its not needed.

Personally I think the landing gear could be bigger, with a wider stance. It looks too small for the Heli.

I have really enjoyed this build, and look forward to getting it in the air when the rain and wind stops.
                      So to summarise.
                      The Pros:
A very easy to follow Manual.
                      Parts are well labelled.
Low parts count, very easy to build and maintain.
                      Plenty of room for wiring.
All intricate parts now assembled in the factory.
Compass have addressed all the know issues that came up in the first batch.
My first dealings with them and i'm very happy with the out come.

                      The Cons:
4 Blade grip hub Screws instead of 2 hub screws and 2 Blade grip screws
Servo screws not long enough to use Carbon supports
Carbon tail control rod too long even on shortest setting. Need to reduce by 4mm.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread.
See you next time with some flying up dates.
                      All the best

Lee. Presume you've checked that the belt tension rollers are free from rubbing the frame when turning? Also run it up without blades to check belts run true!

Make sure the tail is free or it will wag! I had to ream all the links and the tail. The savox are ok on the cyc, what hole distance did you go for on the tail 8-10 mm is good on mine with the same servo.
