  • Any Furion 6 owners out there?

    Hi,

Just bought one myself, from here, as I fancied something different. Not seen any of these about before, and they are not well represented in this country.

Just wanted to know if there are any other owners out there?

    Cheers,

    John

I'm an ex Furion 6 owner. Very nice heli great quality and they fly well. If your running lowish headspeed buy the speed up pulley (prob below 2300 from memory). You'll enjoy it im sure.

I just bought a Fury 55 which arrived today, same heli just nitro. Bought as fond memories of the Furion 6.

There are two at the main club I fly at but they're not mine. I think they're both on the same setup, 6s, Scorpion 4025 motor, Castle Ice100, VBar.

Got a couple in our club, can only echo the above, lovely machines just don't put it in. Not the cheapest to repair, not that any of them are but the MA stuff does seem a bit dear.

          Hi,

Yeah, I have read that, some people are just using 105 tails instead with good results.
I'll see how it goes I guess.

          Cheers

I don't know if they're using larger tail blades but they both seem to fly very well and it's a high quality looking heli. It is a little heavier than the Fusion 50 I had (but probably sturdier) and they both work quite well on 6s and I could never get my 6s setup working decently on the Fusion.

I've got one flying and a spare airframe "just incase".

              I've got the Quantum 4125 560kv motor with a Scorpion 90amp ESC and running V-Bar 5.3 with govenor at around 2100, 4000mah 25C Gens-ace (12s) and get 6mins big aero/sports flying.

I'm only up to large aero flying (very mild 3d) so the tail is ok for me without the need for the speed up gear. The only time it shows itself is in a knife edge piro where the tail is whippy.

Build wise it's a lovely machine, I had a little issue with the finish on one of the blade grips but I contacted MA and they sent me a new one.

As waveydavey points out, it's not the cheapest model to crash but I believe the crash he is thinking of cost £260, this was for a complete back end rebuild, the usual shafts, bearings, a set of radix blades and new canopy. Let's keep this in proportion though, I also stuck an Align 500 EFL Pro in about a month ago and that cost me roughly the same for a similar amount of damage.

                Hi, and Ouch!
Yeah, my 550 would cost a similar amount with a crash like that too really.

One question I have, if anyone can help, I can't seem to get the cyclic pitch I want , as the swash seems to not want to give me more than +8 deg. The servero horns start to bend out.
Are you just using the FBL controller to gve you more flip and roll rate or have I missed something.

                Cheers

Oh, are are you buying spares direct from MA?

                  cheers,

                    Hi John,

To be honest I just let the v-bar do it's stuff. I had no problems with the set up, everything was close to the recommended/advised values and then, like you said, tweaked the roll/flip rate in the agility settings.

I got my spares from Fast Lad and Midland Helicopters. I did panic to start with as neither seemed to have many spares but what you need to remember is that the Furion and Fury share a lot of parts, Midlands and Fast Lad only show the Furion specific spares in the relevant section everything else will be listed under the Fury.

One part that it might be worthwhile to get from MA is the new tail box sides as they have redesigned then so that the roller actually pushes down on the belt so you don't need to swing off the tail to get the belt "bango tight"

                    Hope this helps,

                    Mark

I was just about to mention the tail belt.
Pull it really tight. You need to be able to play a tune on it. Other then that enjoy it.

OK thanks alot for that info.

And nice shout on the Fury spares thing, never thought about that. Now I look, I can see everything I'd need pretty much. Top job Mark, many thanks.

                          OK, nice info thanks.
I need to redo the tail setup anyway as I noticed I have the belt twisted, so the tails turning the wrong way. DOH.

Checked over the head again and it is all setup fine as far as I can see.

Totaly confused now, I just cannot see how anyone is getting more that 8 deg pitch, with the links etc as per the manual.

I mean, I can get 8 deg elevator and aileron in isolation, but when you do both together, as in push the stick to either corner of the stick movement, if you see what I mean, then the bottom of the swash hits the main shaft, and I cannot see how to fix that.

Is anyone able to tell me what cyclic pitches they are using please? I'd be very greatful if you could, and also check and see if you get the same problem, becuase it could be happening, and you're unaware.

                            Cheers

Just in case anyone else gets this, MA are looking into this for me, I'll report back anything they come back with.

This shows the 8 degrees of throw with the cyclics which it manages OK, then the binding when using both together. As in, each corner of the gimbals.
This is with the cyclic movement reduced as low as it goes in the 3GX software. Just about 9deg movement.
I can't imagine I am the first to find this, as it's pretty obvious the swash can only manage 8 with the correct set-up, I am wondering if people flying v-bar are using settings in that to avoid this issue, or are just oblivious to it.

                              Cheers
