I have a Trex 500 Pro it is a fantasic Heli and I'm sure your going to enjoy it. I fly it on HK Turnigy 3000mah 20-30c 6 cell and it's got more power than I can use. I think your charger may be 50 max output, it will charge 6 cell packs but it will be a bit slow. You could do with a charger with a higher output. As for a power supply have a look at the Fusion 600w.

I have the older Trex 500 but it now has the 500mx motor. I'm using the Turnigy 30-40c 2650mah packs and they are cheap and work great. I have one 20-30c Turnigy and it is noticeably a bit less punchy but you wouldn't notice just doing circuits and stuff.

Get a server power supply somthing like this 0JX399 Dell PowerEdge 2950 750W Hot-Plug Redundant AC Power Supply Unit Z750P-00 | eBay you will be able to run quite a bit in charging from these

+1 for the Turnigy Lipos,HK UK is an ideal place to get them from.

It's a brilliant heli,I use packs ranging from 2650 to 3300 MAH in mine,Turnigy,Flightpower and Gens Ace,all perform brilliant.

How exactly would this work? Will the charger just draw it's max capable watts or do I need a set V and A ?

They are 12v 750W you can load that up to 62A with as many chargers as it will support... then when you run out of charging capacity get another one make a 24v supply and they will drive a couple of PL8's

Or you can use one power supply and have 12v @ 900w. so my imax b6 charger is rated

Input Voltage: 11~18v
Circuit power: Max Charge: 50W / Max Discharge: 5W
Charge Current Range: .1~5.0A

what happens if i use a power supply that is 750W? i take it the charger only pulls what it is capable of, or do i need set limits on the charger to avoid overheating?

Do not put more than 18v into your charger. Here's how it works. Volts x Amps = watts. As your charger has a max charge rate of 50w it will probably struggle to put more than about 2.5 amps into a 6 cell pack no matter what you set it at, I'd keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't over heat. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be on to clarify this

Be quite careful with the HK 3000mAh LIPOs. They're OK and will work, but there's two little snags with them ...

1/. They're too big to fit comfortably under the canopy - so you need to slide them forward a bit to avoid cracking the canopy.
2/. They're overweight for the heli and make it nose-heavy. (1) exacerbates this ..

I'm using 2600mAh Gens Ace LIPOs which are perfect. They fit easily and the CoG is spot on. I bought mine from Electriflyer, but Giantshark now have exclusive rights to them I believe. Electriflyer are now stocking Haiyin instead.

PS. Get yourself a decent hex screwdriver set. I got one from Maplins which was perfect. The supplied tools simply aren't up to the job.
