  • Gyro gain question : Spektrum

    Can somebody confirm or deny my understanding of gain settings on the DX6i and DX8?

    I believe that on the DX6i, 0-49% = {rate mode min to max} and 50-100% = {heading hold min to max}
    Whereas on the DX8, -100% to 0% = {rate mode min to max} and 0% to 100% = {heading hold min to max}

    So, a Gain value of 65% for example on the DX6i would equate to 30% on the DX8?

    Or is this total tosh! ?

    Cheers. T

    Nope, I think thats right mate as I had to re-do all my gain settings when I moved from a DX6i to a DX8 dropping them down hugely from the 70-80s down to the 40s or 50s on a dx8!

      Its easy to get things wrong. The gyro gain is a simple idea if you think of pulse width. Above 1.5ms is Heading hold and below is rate mode. You can check the value you are sending out by looking at the monitor screen. Assuming that the monitor screen scaling is the same on both txs. You can also put an old servo on the sense/gain channel and check that the servo moves to roughly the same position. Some servo testers will give you a read out. Between 60% and 70% seems ok. 1ms being 0 and 2ms being 100%.So that's 1.6 to 1.7 ms. You can judge the 1.6 and 1.7 points on the monitor screen, so it should tell you if the software is doing what you think.
