Probably not much consolation but I find myself in the same boat with my T-Rex 250, fitted the 3GX and same experience with the swash plate movement (not sure if this is normal or not) and now impossible to hover. I'm no expert pilot but used to be able hover quite happily in all upright orientations and fly circuits when it was flybar'd, now its all I can do to keep it upright and land in one piece. Seems to be a million times more sensitive and twitchy with 3GX fitted which makes me think the 3GX isn't doing much stabilisation at all

A multitude of settings to twiddle with in the software but not sure where to start. Any advice welcomed. Found some settings tonight for the 250 on here and just loaded them as a starting point for tomorrow morning.

If nothing else it looks way cooler without the flybar

That sounds like you've got it setup badly

... I've only got one model with a 3GX (Trex500), but I have no issues with that - absolutely rock solid in flight ...

Stuart,

bear in mind that only in setup mode the movement is quite drastic, thats the reason why people tend to go to setup mode to identify if the movement is correct ...

in regards of flight mode, do you me<n during setup mode you switch into your flight mode and your movement is different? they should be the same, except you dont use linear curves for your modes or apply any DR/expo for your flight modes??

for the pods, 2.1 usually wants to pods to point at 1 o'clock

I'm using a DX8 and the 3gx has 2 sat receivers, no expo no Dual rate and the trims disabled. The swash plate is level I used a level tool the servo arms are at level and have 0 deg of pitch at mid point 12 deg +ve at full throttle and about 8 deg at idle as I plan to put it in to an Apache fuz. Not sure where I have gone wrong.

When I say flight mode I mean as if I was going to fly not altering the "Flight mode" switches on the TX

did you perform a clean setup of the model? as you have a DX8, write the values of servo reversing and subtrims on a piece of paper and create a new model, bind the model, add the values and try again ... you could also try the following settings I use them on my 500 and 700 - stable as f :P

I have just returned from the Field. The new settings have made no difference what so ever still no movement on the swash plate if I set the pots to 100% I get a very tiny amount of movement on the swash plate not enough to correct the model in the hover. I also have tail wag on the DX8 i have the Gyro channel set to Aux2 and the switch set to gyro. I tried 1 to 100 but all that happens is the wag gets worse.
I'm wondering if the unit is faulty!
Help...........

In flight mode have you checked the cyclic degrees, you only need what 8/9 degrees.? on the pc software go into the first parameter tab then lower aile & elev limits then at the field you will need to adjust more likely lower the roll & flip rates this will also make heli very stable & give you time to work out which other perimeters suite the multi blade

I have set it to the factory defaults. One thing did notice that the Aileron and Elevator Sensitivity is 82 and 79 this is with the pots set to 100% (fully clock wise)

I have been back over the the full setup when I'm in the E-lim and A-lim setup and tilt the model to check the direction I get a lot of movement on the swash plate. but i still don't get any movement on the when i exit setup mode.

I have had my unit tested by a friend and its working fine so I think its an issue with the Transmitter setting's.
Does any one use a Spectrum DX8 with a 3GX?

I'm sure lots do. I've been using a DX6i with a 3GX until recently. Just got a DX8 and about to transfer over to it ...

Well, apart from the fact my DX6i developed a pot fault, sending my 500 into the dirt, I don't foresee an issue! I have the 3GX setup via an AR6210 RX unit as without it, the 3GX needed a 7-channel or more TX, which clearly the DX6i wasn't.

I'll stick with the AR6210 though, even with the DX8 ...
