  • Hobbyking trex 250 clone

    Hi guys.

Has anybody had any experience with the hobbyking trex 250 clone? I am looking at getting one that has been fitted with the align head plus a few other align parts. are they generally ok or is it worth me holding out for an align?

    Cheers

Never had one but read a lot of negative reviews of the 250 clone with people upgrading the parts to align to make them fly. Sounds like the one you are looking at has already been down the that road so may be worthwhile. Guess it all comes down to cost and how it compares against the genuine TREX. I have a T-REX 250 and love it, fiddly to work on and took a while to get setup properly, doesn't like the wind much and generally a little twitchy but I learnt to fly with mine and still enjoy flying it simple because its cheaper to crash than my 500.

If its a bargain price i'd so go for it, just make sure you compare against the price of a 2nd genuine article (£100-£120 I think)

From what i know of Align 250's, it takes a fair bit of work to get them to work right, especially the tail. So i wouldn't like to think of how much it would take to get a clone to work right. Very frustrating model imo. Just get a 130x, you will have a lot more fun and a lot less problems for sure

I already fly a blade nano and 130x but really want both a 250 and a 400/450 size too.

Ok so i swapped my plane for the litle hk450.

I got the little fella home and was immediately presented with a hobbyking head rather than an align one as stated. And further to this I niticed one of the feathering shafts was bend which led me to check the main shaft which was also bent!

Feelng a bit narked as I did this outside of ebay so it was down to me to check it out first which i didnt! So my plan is to replace the damaged components, get it set up properly and see how she flies.

It does have an align tail servo, align tail assembly, align motor/esc and a brand new quark summat or other gyro so not a total loss.

Considering this is only a bit bigger than my 130x the small scale engineering on it is very impressive.
