    Tip from YGE for anyone with a YGE ESC struggling with Soft-Start

    Hi all,

    Contacted YGE recently due to the "soft start" not really being particularly soft (well trodden ground here) and both almost tipping over the heli on spool up and recently stripping the main gear (partly my fault for having the mesh a little over tight too).

    So anyway, YGE advised me that the ProgCard cannot support and read correctly some high-speed receivers, including Spektrum 11ms/Futaba 14ms
    They recommend strongly that while teaching the throttle end-points in the ESC, that you downgrade the electronics to 22ms+

    I know i run Spektrum DSMX 11ms Sats on my VBAR so definitely i programmed the endpoints in that manner so i will be trying this out and report back but it might help some others.

    They supplied me with the latest versions of both the setup guide for the ESC and the ProgCard 2 guide. If anyone wants to read them drop me a pm with email addy and i'll forward them on. I haven't yet checked with the pdf's on their site to see if they're downloadable but its version 1.4 i have.

    Any update on this? I'm thinking about a YGE for my 550X, but your comment above about lack of soft start has me a bit concerned.

      I noticed this in the YGE manual but i didn't have any trouble setting the throttle end points using my vbar and Futaba 7008SB on SBUS using high speed mode. Soft start is working very well.

        programmed my YEP 100A LV controller using the prog card, (DSMX AR8000 and sat) endpoints without any issue as, so as far as i can tell you the issue doesnt exist on the YEP clones for what its worth. Also soft start is superb.

          To be honest, i'm now certain it was my own incorrect programming technique as i did finally send the ESC back to YGE (at their request) and they've fully tested it out and set it up for me ... just waiting for it to come back... But YGE as a company are terrific to deal with and very helpful .... can you say the same for a company like Hobbyking if a YEP clone failed?

          In regards to stripping teeth .... ditto pretty certain i'd got the mesh WAY too tight as the inside of the frames had a lot of white power residue from the teeth...

          Since replacing the gear and setting the mesh properly the gear are fine (many more flights than my old set) and no residue etc

          The soft start isn't the best but by no means an issue..... i'm happy that in this instance the fault lay with the user not the product.

            Or, a even simpler way.

            Plug in flight pack with stick @100% wait for tone then pull down to 0% wait for beeps.

            Done!!

            Really is that simple.

                          Where is your start up speed at?

                          Are you using a ext gov eg v bar or skookum?

                          If not whats your throttle curves?

                              It is possible to get a perfectly smooth soft start on vbar gov with the YGE ESCs. The most important part of the procedure is the ESC endpoint calibration in the vbar gov settings. If you are having trouble i'd be happy to help, send me a PM and i'll go over it with you.
