  • What are these gears made of?

Just stripped a tooth of the main gear on my fusion.
All I fly is gentle circuits at about 1950rpm.
Maybe had 15-20 flights on this gear with no crashes or hard landings

These gears should be fine so it would be worth checking mesh. However as temps drop the standard gear can get brittle. Outrage do a CNC main gear which is a worthy upgrade and will stop this. They also do a CNC gear for the Velocity 2 which also fits a dream it just has 132 teeth rather than the Fusion's 129 teeth.

Yeah. Might be mesh. And did fly in very cold temps.

+1 put the cnc gear on it, it's bullet proof and also made my motor run alot cooler as i could back the mesh off a knats knacker further.

          Don't have issues with motor/ESC ...
Ordered CNC version ... i think i might have meshed too tight ... poking around inside there is definitely some white 'powder' looking substance sprayed around ... thought i'd been careful with mesh as i did read before building about this issue.... oh well ... small repair ... just a shame since its been flying supremely

I did actually do a flight with broken tooth (think it happened on spool up since i cannot get YGE to spool any gentler but still kicks it) and didn't actually feel any different ... this heli is just so stable.

Yeah, it's a great machine. Have you got the new tail gears as this should make the machine absolutely spot on?

Nope ... just the black ones that came in the kit from earlier this year .... i see the £28 retro-fit bevel gears but don't think i'm replacing them until i have a reason to

Given my flying style at the moment is 'beginner' ie circuits, figure8's ... maybe sometime in new year i might actually get to the point of doing some basic rolls/loops/flips translating into i fly this thing like a pussycat ... are the newer block gear set really required or still optional?
Are the stock ones likely to strip for a non-smack flyer? I'm just running around 1950rpm governed on a relaxed setup in vbar

I mean for the sake of £30 on a £1200+ heli i might make it a winter upgrade anyway but just curious on experienced pilots

I seen the tail gears strip on the 3 rd flight from new just hovering go and i have a pile of tail and main gears from my n2 last winter if you have not done all of the tail mods and more the black gears run a very high chance of stripping its just a game of luck
