  • velocity clutch

Turns out the one way bearing on my velocity 50 has gone, just spinning last night when i tried to start it. Was going to have a night flight! The word being was there lol. Anyways the clutch thats in it is not that old tbh and it used to take a while to open out and catch the bell. Basically the engine revved its nuts off until the rpms were high enough to open the clutch. First clutch i had did not do this. What im wondering is the following...
Is there any other manufacturers clutches i can use instead of the Outrage one (as they are clearly rubbish)? Im hoping the answer to this is yes so that maybe i can purchase a Quick UK one or the likes. So will a raptor/600 clutch fit for example?
Will the Velocity N2 clutch fit the V1?
Are there any upgrade clutches specifically for the Velocity 50 (QuickUK/Lynx etc)?
Busy looking and cant seem to find a velocity 50 clutch in stock anywhere.

    Thanks

Had a similar issue with my N2. Changed the clutch shaft and one way bearing, still the same issue, slipping when trying to start it. Eventually changed the shaft to an Align Trex 600 one and used a bearing as a spacer (The shaft is about 5mm longer) - been fine ever since.
    Trex 700 DFC - Vortexted, TRex 600, OUTRAGE FUSION 50, 500ESP, 450PRO, 130x.

TBH i didnt know you dealt with Outrage helicopters. In fact i dont even know why i think that. Have Midland always dealt with Outrage Rob? Ill order the bearing today for a quick fix since the clutch is ok. What im bothered about Rob is if i order the full clutch ill probably have the same issue with regards to it opening out late. I think all the outrage clutches are like this. Maybe it could be the lining in the clutch bell has worn down also but i highly doubt it as it just hasnt had that much use. Just dont want to spend money if its not needed.
Anyone know if a diffrent clutch would fit without any modification? Im sure i read somewhere that a raptor clutch did without any mod.

          Hi Lee,
We have dealt with Outrage since Climb-Out became the distributor

Sounds like your air-gap between clutch and liner might need looking at?

          Cheers,

            Lee,
I had a similar issue with my N2 but sold it before I read about a possible easy fix for closing the gap.
Fit a raptor 60/90 clutch liner.
            Hope this helps

              Re: velocity clutch

Thanks guys... Ive been told a 500 one way is a better quality bearing and will do by all accounts. Gonna fit one and see, hopefully an easy fix. Think ill order the newer orange bell from midland and try that. If that dont sort it ill try a rappy liner in it. Obviously its been an issue from what people are telling me. Good to know midlands are stocking parts for my future orders. Cheers
