  • Trex 250 brown outs??

    Hi,
My Trex 250 is FBL, courtesy of a microbeast and orange satellite. It flys superbly.

I haven't had it built long and am having continuing problems with "brown outs".

Occasionally it'll go a battery without doing it. Other times it does it on start up. It'll do it on a steady hover just as often as when pushing it hard.

It's all Align electrics, servos etc. I've changed the ESC to a new Align one to no effect. I've changed the motor for an Align one today and still no different. It did have a bigger motor on it and I was sure this was the problem as you could sometimes see the sat light dimming when spooling up!

I recall reading somewhere that the BEC in the Align ESC is not up to powering the BeastX.

Anyone else had the problem? Any ideas? (other than keep fitting new bits until the problem goes away - am already well down that road!)

Have you noticed whether it's a particular battery that causes it or randomly any battery? If it's one particular battery it may be that the a) battery is knackered or b) solder dry joint.

Hi Vikki. No its any one of the 5 batteries I've got. That said I was beginning to persuade myself that it was doing it more on some batteries than others. I do have some Turnigy Nanos arriving in the next day or two and I may try them before doing anything else.

Hi Dave I noticed in your post you say Orange satellite is that one of the copy RX's? If so it might be worth trying a genuine unit(if you can borrow one) to see if it still does it.

It is, and it's one of the things I was considering. We have our regular Tuesday "fly in" tomorrow night, I'll see if I can borrow one, thanks

I had static issues with a carbon boom on an old 250.

Not sure how I would do this? Its a metal boom, not cf. Its a metal tail assembly (microheli). Where would I earth from and to?
