  • Graupner heim star ranger build plans and more!!!!

Hi I have been trying to locate some build plans for my Star Ranger, i believe that it is a Graupner Heim but not 100% sure i have a picture of the machanics which i have posted on a different thread, but i am getting a little down that parts to complete this project are hard to get. I am looking for a header / exhaust system and a pair of undercarrage legs (missing 2) which attach into the wood work on each corner.

It a shame that these are no longer around as they were and are in my mind a great model, it would be nice to complete this model even if its just to hover around!

Have you tried Dave Wilshere at Motors & Rotors? He's a Graupner agent, and used to carry Graupner / Heim stock. He may still have some bits. The bearings he supplied for my Bell 47 were Graupner / Heim parts.

No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

Hi Pete thanks for getting back, yes tried Dave yesterday, very limited with spares for Star Ranger, no plans and not original exhaust system or landing gear, but was very helpful and gave me some options

OK, Dave is probably the most knowledgeable person in the UK on Graupner / Heim stuff, so if he gave you some leads, I would suggest they are the best bet! I believe Ewald Heim is still around, but since he sold out to Graupner, I haven't heard much about him. Your best bet may be German suppliers.

There is quite a growing following in Germany for old helicopters:

        helioldie.de

but this is mostly for *really* old stuff, long before Heim! Having said that, Heim started out supplying after-market upgrades for the Kavan JetRanger, which eventually developed into his own machines, so there may be some useful contacts on that site!

Early Vario helis are also closely related to the Heim machines, so it may be worth trying Vario as well.

        Best of luck!
        Pete
