Richie Clarke has very generously donated a brand new 'Simstick' to the Club to allow us to set up a wireless connection on a Phoenix Sim for Dave Sargent.
Even after unfortunately suffering a stroke and losing total use of his right arm and leg, Dave still remains a very positive and cheerful guy.
He's very determined to try and get back to flying his various models again and now having the use of a simulator is certain going to go a long way to help him in achieving this goal.

The face of someone who doe's not wish to be distracted from his Sim !
Before Dave suffered the stroke he was a very experienced R/C modeller and had reached BMFA examiner status. What you have to appreciate here is that Dave will now be attempting to learn to fly again with only the use of his left hand. Now I’m sure that this is something that most of us probably couldn’t even contemplate attempting and have found learning to fly is a hard enough challenge in normal circumstances.
After getting the sim up and running today, Dave was already doing pretty well with only a few minutes use and I’m sure is going to really enjoy the challenge and having the sim.
The Simstick allows a wireless connection to any PC simulator with the additional use of a 2.4ghz receiver and not having to have a cable hanging out the transmitter not only allows you more freedom, but give you the same feel as you would get flying a real R/C model. Now if you're thinking that you want one for yourself then please check out this link… ‘Simstick’
We would all like to say a very big thank you Richie for your very generous donation of the Simstick and to Adrian for his kind donation of the Phoenix sim.
Thanks guys !
