    A flying wing???

    Hey guys,
    for my birthday my girfriend baught me a flying wing (slinger) instead of the logo Xxtreme i wanted, (she thought it was close enough... as in it flys :) )

    anyway im going to give it a go, after seeing them being flown at zone i thought it would be pretty cool. But im pants with electrics, and not sure what i can put in it. It comes with a brushed 400 motor and prop but thats it. ive got some small micro servos from a trex 450, i thought these would be just the ticket, but the holes already cut out of the wing to house the servos in is too big, can i fill it with something or are there specially designed servos for these "flying wings"?

    Secondly can some one recommend a speed controller for this motor, and a battery pack? i was going to use my lipos but im unsure whether or not i can use lipos with a brushed set up?

    any info would be great.

    How bug us your wing?

    I fly a Zagi (love it - there i said it out loud) I use a 45a esc and a black mantis 3200kv motor - goes like lightening.

    Your going to want to bin the brushed motor!!!

      +1 on binning the brushed motor, Brushless motors and ESC's are so cheap now it would be silly to not put one in. If you can give some more details on size then it will help with power system suggestions.

        thanks for the speedy replys, ill rip it out now lol,
        its just over 47 inches long, and weighs 650 grams apparently, but i dont know if thats fully loaded or just the airframe.


        Another question i have is, that the ailerons are only connected to the wing by what looks like bog standard sticky tape and the one keeps falling off, can i replace it with duck tape?

          Use bullet tape for the hinges and then recover with covering tape.

          The size and weight is similar to my Zagi so the motor I suggested above (12.59 from gs) will make it go quick, I got 92mph in a dive recently.

              One more thing I just thought of - that wing was designed for considerably lower speed flight than it will do when you go brushless and will probably need some carbon spars put in to stop it folding up at high speed. If you need pics lets me know.

                Once you get it flyin you'll love it. Mine is a Raven. prob one of the more common wings. 9g servos, 30 amp esc and a 2200kv brushless motor. Choice of prop is very important. I've had best results with a 6x4.

                The best bit about a wing is the ease of repair.. crash it then fix it.. bbq skewers and a glue gun!

                Swap out the flaps for wooden ones. Most hobby shops have them in stock. In fast flight the don't distort.

                  I'm going to get one of these, but purely as a glider! Love the idea of a Zagi that just floats around! No power expect the wind.

                      I never got it in the end. If I remember correctly I bought my 600EFL around that time.

                      Do want one though!
