  • Considering a G4

I really think I want a nitro heli (many reasons, first being curiosity), but there isn't many 90s available on the market.

I don't want to spend obscene amount of money, what do you think about G4 combo Midlands/Fastlads sell?

Raptor 90 G4 FBL Super Combo | Midland Helicopters Ltd

I'd most likely replace FBL unit with cgy750, but other than that, I'd keep it stock, are these servos and engine reliable? I am not smack pilot, just started doing some very light 3D.

I'd be willing to buy used as well but doubt anyone is selling

From memory the old Redline engines have been hit and miss in tuning but thus far on the new RL-100 I haven't heard anything bad about them. I use the TT Redline 100 Muffler on my OS105 and it works fine.

I'm no 3D God but I do like to have some fun with flying and the G4 without a doubt it built extremely well and flys on rails. I would seriously recommend it as a stonking great heli. If you decide to change it to the E720 in the future its peanuts to convert to electric to.

Parts aren't cheap versus Align - but to me you get what you pay for built to last.....
      Cheers

Thanks guys, I pretty sure I am going to get one of these sooner than later - do you think I'd be better off buying a kit instead of combo and put OS/YS engine in it?

What I am really after is reliability, I have very limited time to fly and would rather spend time flying than tinkering. I'll get a good help from the club, these guys are nitro experts.

Yes Pete, I've seen the video and it was one of the reasons I want one.

Part prices are really high on this one (higher than my TDR), but well, I don't plan to crash it a lot

If i was to change my Trex 700n, it would be either the Raptor G4 or the Rave env, i have flown Adam Turners G4 electric and it was very nice

I've been building one today with shades,

I very nice piece of kit, Although a few missing parts! (Great service by Midland as always) But the quality is real nice! and very simple to put together.

I've got 25 flights on mine and I love it. Just be careful to not use too much of the included red loctite (or switch directly to blue), or else you will have a bad time taking things apart for maintenance!
