  • Which ESC?

Think I'm gonna get a 600E PRO a flybarred kit without the ESC everything else will be stock though.

So whats the best option for an ESC?

I don't wanna spend mega bucks but I want one that works and just keeps working ;-)

Sorry but kontronics are not in the reach of everyone

I would recommend having a look at the heli drive or Turnigy dlux range

Castle Ice 2 appear to be reliable. Good value, easy to set up and work well. Soft start is good too.

I use Castle on all three of my helis and they work great. Have had issues with Align ESCs.

Does anybody have experience of the YEP ESC's from hobbyking?

I have YEPs on one of my 450s (45A) and on my Trex 500 (80A). You can't fault them for the money. I'm running an external BEC on the 500, but that would be the case no matter what ESC I was using.

Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

                    Cool. I have just ordered a YEP 80A, which has a 5.5v 6A SBEC.
                    Is a BEC really necessary?
For the price it looks to be a really good deal, and has more features/ better spec than the HW.

make sure you order program card, yep 120hv works fine and no problems.

Using the YEP45a on my Warp 360 & YEP120a on my Goblin, so far so good & great smooth spool ups

                            Necessary? Probably not.

I used to run the internal BEC on the Align 60A ESC before I went flybarless, and a guy at our club is using the same on his 500 ESP upgraded to DFC with the 3GX. He gives it some decent stick and he's been running that for over a year. He's there every weekend too, rain or shine so he'll have a couple of hundred flights on it I'll bet.

I'm running the castle BEC pro on mine purely for piece of mind that I won't be stressing it. If I was still running the Align, I'd still use the castle BEC pro due to the servos working harder on a flybarless heli.
