  • recommended hand fuel pump for my raptor ?

Anyone recommend a hand fuel pump for my newly aquired raptor and this might be a stupid question but what is the procedure for getting the nitro fuel into the fuel tank?
I haven't got a header tank on this - is it adviseable to get one fitted ?
    Thanks,
    Ian

Any hand fuel pump will do, choose your chosen shop and see what they have!

I like header tanks because then you can fly all the fuel in the tank and have the header for security, but there is no need to have a header.

If you are worried about not picking up fuel when doing 3D and don't want a header then you can always use a fuel magnet.

One of these will be fine

FAST FUELLER HAND PUMP - RED | Midland Helicopters Ltd

You dont need a header but tbh most people run them as its not just for the extra fuel in the header .. Header tanks dont normally have the foaming you sometimes get with a normal tank and thus it means a constant supply of fuel with little or no air bubbles which can sometimes happen in a normal tank.

As for filling up ... Read the instructions with the pump as well as they are directional . One end in fuel container and the other end to the fuel tube that goes directly into the tank side. Theres 2 ways of doing this as well as one for OS and its different for YS engines . Will assume your running a non crankcase pressure feed engine

Then just crank until tank full ... If you have a T piece for filling then you need to have a clamp to the carb side as not to flood the engine. Take a look at some pics of helis on here /or google and see where and how people have there fuel systems set up to get an idea.

You need to be filling into the header/main tank and not the carb side .. Hope this helps

Here you go... Clamp on carb side of filter, pump fuel into short T tube straight into tank. Makes no difference if there's a header or not. When full put stopper back in T piece, un-clamp fuel pipe and away you go
