How can someone trust a clone that size! I can understand the 450 clone appeal due to the very low costs, but especially at the 550 price, once you add blades etc you may as well buy a used 550 off the forum and not worry everytime you fly it that a blade grip will fly off.

Yikes. I wouldn't trust it as far as it could fly. About 3 feet I guess before exploding!

Probably good for spare frames if they're the 2mm version and a direct fit (which i assume they will be)

is there proof that these are not well made though?

At the end of the day, both this and the original are still made in china. Probably in the same factory

Why is it whenever somebody mentions a Hobby King clone everybody comes out of the woodwork to say "Its rubbish", "It will break up in flight", etc, etc, etc.

If you don't like HK clones there really is no need to even visit the thread.

From what i understand, the new breed of 450s they have are supposed to be quite good!

We all have a right to express our opinion. To be honest, I've had a HK500GT and how it could ever fly is a mystery. Biggest load of rubbish I've ever seen. Didn't even get a foot off the floor before exploding (and hitting my arm with a whack). Not sure what failed as it was such a mess!

Clones are fine, I've worked on a few of them for club member's
You just need to spend a bit more time on getting the parts to work as they should.
They fly quiet well, its a spin off buy a trex which works as it should or a clone spending more time on it.
As for blade grips flying off etc, a bad bolt under load will give on any heli no matter what heli its on.

I've built some clones like Tarrot and Flasher, but never tried HK ones. As far as I'm concerned, I would change all bearings for better ones. The only issues I had were from poor quality bearings.
