  • New 600n flyer

    Hi all,

Moving up from Blade 400 to 600n and buying from club member. Advice from several members is to practise/learn handling with fibreglass rather than carbon blades initially. Sound advice I'm sure, but which blades are best for value/performance at my level and any recommended suppliers please?

    All tips much appreciated, thanks

That's great, thanks. Which ones do/would you buy and from which suppliers for a 600n?

For a 600, you really don't want to plan on crashing too often, the extra cost of carbons over fibreglass will be the least of your worries. Look out for Align seconds which have cosmetic flaws buy are of the same quality ie they will balance and fly as well as as the non flawed ones, will save you
£10 ish and are only £10 more than "cheapie" blades.

The theory of using woodies on a 600 size doesnt apply the same as it does on the smaller helis.

Keep the small heli for practicing on, and only do things you are comfortable with on the 600 and it will keep costs down.

Every crash on a 600 will cost £100 + to repair the difference in cost between glass fibre blades and Carbon blades is about a tenner. as silverlyx says blades will be the least of your worries, a canopy alone is circa £45, blades circa £50, apart from shafts bearings boom, gears etc, etc.these will all need replacing most of the time after a good crash

Can you get plastic canopy for the 600n. My yellow plastic one on rapt or has lasted years now.

yes you can get a plastic canopy, I have one, but the screen got smashed when I crashed and I have not bothered with it since.

As far as blades I quite like these

Ripmax GRP Main Blades 600mm | Midland Helicopters Ltd

I am a sports flyer just getting into inverted hovering

My only advise is don't get black blades to learn with

For Glass Fibre blades, the Ripmax blades are good value:

For a bargain set of carbon blades, look no further than the NHP1010:

Thanks guys for all your advice etc. The pre-owned 600 has got align carbons on it, so I'm going for the Ripmax grp's from Midland to use till I get the hang of the handling and then will put the carbons back on.

Good call to keep the blade 400. I was thinking of getting rid, but for what I'd get it's probably worth keeping for practise, also as something to fly if, ooops, when I crash.

No, that's probably an insult to Widnes! There is another on here with similar call-sign...."OLLIE"
