  • Is she sluggish because she's fat?

My MCPX weighs 53g with battery, not brushless.
    What do your MCPXs weigh?

Mine has a 140mm tail and dual motor with boom supports, I'm thinking I made her too fat.

Why do you have the dual tail motor if you're not brushless? I know people with the hp05 like the dual tail, because the hp05 is so strong. Seems a bit like a lot of excess weight. No idea what mine weighs though, I have stock except for extended tail boom and MicroHeli X Swash, I guess + a bit of CA for the a/r bracket mod haha.

exactly the 1st thing i thought, why the dual tail on a stock motor?

mine was at its heaviest when i was running a walkera in runner but never had any problems with the heli feeling sluggish and it was rather heavy.

After 2 mins I need full stick to maintain hover, 1st thing I'm thinking is heavy but batteries may be the issue.

I got the dual tail because it looked awesome, no other reason, not sure if I'll ever go brushless though, maybe I'll get bored and do it eventually but for now my skills need to catch up.

take it off then, its heavy!

Also check your pitch at mid stick. Could be that its not 0 pitch at mid stick, meaning your not running enough at top stick.

Yeh, seems simple enough to just take it off and get the weight back down. The Mcpx works like it does because it is light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adding weight will mess it up.... unless you have a brushless set up of course. But I'm not even convinced by the tbh.

She didn't seem so bad initially though, so I wondered if it's batteries, knowing other's weights may help me narrow it down

I believe entirely stock the MCPX flying weight is 45.5g.

How old are your batteries? They don't last long at all really in my experience before they start to lose power and make the helicopter behave in very strange ways. Try some new batteries. Overlander and Thunder power both do some good ones

YES ! LoL, how about the CoG ? Using too much power to balance that extra tail moment ?
