  • ESC to motor wire length

As above really, what does every one do? do you keep them the standard length and hide the wire? or cut them somewhere near and make it neat?

I was thinking of cutting them an inch to long just so i can hide the connectors

Plenty of room to hide them under the esc mount

If you need to sell it you will have more chance of getting rid.

No problem with short wires. Making them longer can be a problem.

I thought you weren't meant to cut the motor wires due to timings or something?

The battery wires shouldn't be lengthened (without adding capacitors, or such).

CC seem to say that lengthening the motor wires is ok. IIRC any effect is dwarfed by the motor windings' inductance.

I'm (also) not aware of any problems shortening wires - or having the three motor wires not an identical length (within reason...).

On my esc it's using a 10 AWG wire
I ordered some from midland heli and it came next day

Shortening motor wires can be a huge problem as you are dealing with the ends of the motor windings and they are usually enamelled so if you cut back beyond the pre-tinned area you will need to remove the enamel from each individual strand before you can tin the wire again.

the silicone cable is easy to manipulate the motor tails are winding wire and covered in varnish

I wouldn't shorten the motor wires there only an inch long!
It's the esc wires I would shorted but I'm all sorted now! All soldered up now!

Apologies for giving people the opportunity to make bizarre misunderstandings.

I was referring to the motor wires on the ESC - as opposed to the battery wires (on the ESC).

Having said that, the leads on the motors that I've seen have shown no signs of being enamelled - unlike the windings.
