  • Velocity 50 Swashplate Question

I am in the process of replacing a V1 FB swashplate I have got with a FBL V2 version and replacement FB upper-cup like this one.

R50N989-SS Outrage Upgrade Swashplate For Standard Head Velocity 50

I have just fitted the new upper-cup and tightened down the 6 of M2x5 bolts. However, when the bolts are fully tightened the swash ball is very stiff and there is no way that it will work on the heli. I have had to loosen up the bolts to make it usable which I feel is not very satisfactory.

I have had a look around the web for any info but have found nothing useful nor any indication that the bolts should be anything but fully tightened down.

Is there anybody else who has replaced the upper-cup on their swash, were you able to fully tighten the bolts or did you have to settle for only lightly pre-loading them.

Any input would be greatly received. Cheers

When I changed over to the FBL. Upper cup, I had the same.

Ended up backing the bolts out slightly and letting the loctite do its job.

Had the same problem here mate I just locktited them & loosened them enough to smooth out the action then let the locktite go off.

Thanks that helps. I guess the idea is that you can further tighten down the swash to remove any play as it wears. I still feel its a bit of a naff design to rely on thread lock rather and the effectively pre-loading the bolts though.
