  • 450 pro Carbon tail control rod

    Hi Chaps,

I am after a carbon tail control rod for a 450 pro. I want to do away with the guides to put it in a scale fuselage. Cant seem to find a standard length one. I have found short ones for boom mounting the servo, but this isnt what i am after. Help Appreciated.

Just make one. Get some CF tube, cut to length, glue some threaded rods in it, thread on ball links and job done

Hello mate, Yes did think about this. The only problems being my inherent lazyness, coupled with being cack handed. I think it may be the only option though as i cant find one anywhere. Any idea where to cf tube from?

What I did was get some 3mm carbon rod (i think it's 3 anyway) as this had a 1.5mm hole through it. I cut it to length and then simply put the steel rod inside it, drop a little ca down the ends to stop it moving and jobs a good un. Cost about £3 for the rod from the local hobby shop and should do another 2 rods if required. No guide is needed anymore and it's nice and rigid.

That's quite a cool idea - unless you want to save weight...

If you wanted to make it lighter, maybe you could just glue a short swash linkage rod into either end - so you had a thread to screw the ball links onto. (?)
            Yes, it's th@ tw@ Scallyb@...

I used the exact same method but i used a 4mm carbon rod with 1.5 mm hole, then used epoxy instead of CA, its now had over 500 flights and works very well makes replacing new booms very quick

Thanks again guys. This is what I will do. I really surprised no one does one off the shelf though.
