  • Can't get the Velcro to Stick To The Battery Mount?

    Hi All,

Anyone had a problem with getting Velcro to stick to the plastic battery mount on the 550E?

    Its driving me nuts

I've tried cleaning it with surgical spirits
Sanding it smooth with wet and dry
    Different Types of Velcro

    It just peels off

Any ideas? I'm considering breaking out the contact adhesive

never had an issue, maybe the velcro glue isnt as perfect, try adding some superglue - that should fix the problem ...

        V2?

I've tried the Align velcro, the 'heavy duty' velcro and nothing is holding fast

well, I usually just stick it on, then find a battery, fit the counterpart (loop, soft) onto the battery and leave the battery sit on it for a couple of minutes ... I use the align 600 size hook&loop tape ..

I have done an experiment on the underside of the battery tray

Small strip of velcro, half superglued, half not.

I'll see in the morning if the superglue helps before i make an un slightly mess on the top

Use CA, I always tend to do on important areas such as the battery as that reinforces the bond. Especially works better for plastic - Proper Velcro brand is damn strong stuff though.

I mean honestly speaking? I have the velcro on it but still use straps, so the velcro just holds the battery in place but the straps secures it ... so just to mount the battery at the same spot for the purpose of having the same CG ... so its not really in issue if the velcro comes a bit off ..

The hook and loop tape supplied with the kit seems to be very aggressive stiction wise on mine. Must be something in the plastic of your mount I reckon. Might be worth getting a new one to save all that aggro.

It's not an issue if a little bit comes off - but when that happens, the rest tends to follow. Try flying without the velcro under it, and just the straps . On my Logo 600, with as much proper brand Velcro as I can fit under the lipo, and two anti slip straps I still had the batt come out, the velcro under didn't come off at all, these lipos just go through a lot of G forces.

Clean the plastic properly with something non oil based, like alcohol, or even soap and water should do, and use 3M or proper 'Velcro'.
I buy rolls of Velcro and if I want to remove it, I usually have to pull it off with pliers. Heating the Velcro a little before applying it is no harm either.

Have you had the velcro stored in a cold place? Put it in a warm place, the glue will then become tacky and adhere alot better.

CA overnight seems to have done the trick.

Time will tell if it hold though

                              Thanks all
