  • Heli club in Nottingham?

I've only just joined on here so Hello Everyone!! I've been looking around for local flying clubs to see if I could get any lessons/training on flying my Align 550E Heli. I've had a couple of lessons from a guy in Banbury but as its a bit of a trek I wanted to find somewhere abit closer to Home!! So if anybody could give me any info that would be great!! I'm from South Notts.

    Cheers

    Ben

That would be Noel down in Banbury.... if you are just wanting tuition you could try Jason at Ultimate Build and Fly as I think this would be a little closer. If you are also wanting to join a club then as Mike has said Park Hall (it's just near West Hallam)

While the club i'm a member of doesn't do lessons per se - the chaps have been instrumental in my progression and have been so helpful to date... I only started flying in January so you're not the only beginner by any means

Don't know to be honest ... again, only been there myself for 3 months... i know they've moved flight-fields a couple of time so i wouldn't be surprised
Current field is out towards Farnsfield and is a fully approved space for flight.

              Yes it was.
It's OK, plenty of air time because not many actually fly.
Good club but loads of rules!
No tuition available but those that do fly are, as with most places quite helpful.
I've had lessons with Jason Platts in the past, very methodical.
I think that to have lessons at Park Hall you have to join the club - which is fair enough. I tried to fix up some lessons there last year but didn't come to anything.

Thanks for all your replies, I will have to contact the clubs mentioned and see what they have to say. I'm looking for someone to show me on how to set my heli up aswell as flying lessons! I've not actually flown it yet, the night before I was going to Banbury for a lesson with Noel the Esc packed up, also reckon I had a couple of dodgy servos, I have just put 3 new servos on it and still deciding on what Esc to buy? Any suggestions? I was thinking about getting a castle phoenix Ice2 Hv. Are they any good?

                Cheers

You sound very much like your in a similar situation to me.

I've just finished my T-Rex 450 sport build and really need someone to take a look at it for me, I also want to a have few lessons so I'm a little more confident with it.

Yesterday I contacted Jason from Ultimate Build and Fly - http://www.ultimatebuildandfly.co.uk.

He is going to give the Heli an hours set up and me an hours lesson on Thursday if the weather holds out!!!

Might be worth dropping him an email, I'll let you know how I get on.

Yeah let me know how you get on. Jason sent me a message earlier but I've only just replied so will wait to see what he has to say. Where abouts is it your having your lesson? How much was it for the hour set up and hour flying?

As dave says going down the field is a bit hit and miss actually seeing anybody flying lol

Lessons are held in Retford, not sure about cost but looking at the website I think it's going to be roughly £55.

Did you buy the Trex 550 new or second hand it's unusual for so many faulty parts. Maybe it would be worth your while to let someone look at it before you start spending anymore money on it.

(what part of Nottingham do you live in)?
