  • 550 FBL Inner Swash Balls

Just being doing some maint on my 550E - upgrading my Beastx etc.

Took the head off to get the swash level. Went to put it back on and couldnt remember exactly if the Link Rods A went on the longer or shorter of the the ball links on the inner swash.

Checked the manual, that seems to show Link A on the Longer balls and the swash driver arms on the shorter ones. Thought that was kinda strange as its reversed on my 700.

A few searches and there seems to be a divide as to which is right.

So, Link Rods A on Long or Short balls on the 550e (with beastx) ??

    Cheers
    Aidi

Glad you have said that mate, as that is where i was going. Just checked the manual and although it does not say, the diagram shows the orientation of the radius arms and the A Links to go on the opposite (Link A on Long, Radius on short)

I am 99% sure i had the A rods on the short balls, but cant for the life of me remember why if the manual shows different!! Old age setting in i guess.

I did try setting up both ways - Beastx is alot harder to get accurate point J (6 degrees on blue) with the A rods on the long balls.

I have the DFC head with beastx, and had to go even shorter with 700e balls to get the 6deg.

Arent the balls different sizes the shorter ones 5mm and the longer ones 4.75mm so should be straightforward as the 5mm ones go to the blade grip links.

I think you're right mate. Was playing around with them a bit more after asking the question and the A Links are loose on them. Not that tight on the radius arms either on my heli, so a new set of radius arms and balls are in the post.
