  • Which optipowers?

I need to buy some packs, which size optipowers would you recommend, 4400 or 5000? I am more about flight time, but don't really want to get too heavy heli.

I checked today and cells were at 3.86 after about 5 minutes of quite hard flying @ 1650 hs (not stick banging though, but I don't plan to fly like that anytime soon), so at about 50% used.

Not having a TDR I can't comment on that but every 700 Heli I have had so far for me has felt to light on anything less than 5000's.

Sure someone will pop along soon with some actual experience for you on TDR

Does a fellow club member not have any you can try a flight with to see what you prefer otherwise it can be an expensive trial.

I currently have 4000 mAh Turingys (which I am very keen to retire btw), can't really tell if heli feels light or not, I need to fly around more, hopefully next weekend. Club is mostly nitro so no packs to try.

I had 5000mah Flightpower (my fav brand). Balance was perfect power to weight was great.

If I still had my tdr I would have 5000 opti's.

Sorry I have to disagree. In my search for an ultra light weight setup,I found the optis unusable due to there weights.

I use opti 5000mah in my tdr with a head speed of 1550 after a 10 min flight I still have over 55% left. Great packs.

I use 5000's in my TDR.

4300 are great for light smack setup, 5000's will be a little heavier, but great duration. Also the 5000's are both smaller and lighter than my Turnigy 5000 45c packs.

It might have something to do with the fact that every OptiPower retailer I've checked is still showing out of date size and weight information for the 5000 6S packs and maybe others as well ...

Unless you go digging around the OptiPower website and find the well hidden size and weight data, all you'd know is that an Opti 6S 5000 pack weighs 830g without a connector. Even if you find the correct weight it is still 765g + connector against 746g inc. connector for one unnamed direct competitor

If I was Andy at Opti, I'd have been talking to my retailers about this a long time ago as it must be costing sales ...
