  • Phoenix ice 50 will not respond

    Hi guys.

Well after my Align ESC desided to die on me, I got a second hand phoenix ice 50 to use on my 450 pro.

I have tried everything to get it to work. Set up my dx 8 low throtle trim right down, throtle travel low and high positions to 150%. Plug it to my sk 720 to IO-AITI PORT as per manual, turn on the transmiter, plug in the lipo to ESC, it comes on it makes couple long blips, and it just flushes red......... nothing no responce at all.
Well I thought, is it the sk 720???? I plugged my spare ar8000 rx to the ESC, bind it and carried out the same procudure, and nothing.

What I am doing wrong..... am I missing something?

Any ideas guys? I am about to cremate the blooming thing

    Plug it into your AR8000.

Go to 50 on both low and high endpoints.

    Go to full throttle.

Increase your high endpoint until it beeps.

Go to low throttle and do the same.

      Paul thanks.
I just tried your procudure but still the same.
Makes my wonder if I have a faulty ESC.

Your rx is bound I presume?

Are you hearing the beeps when setting the endpoints?

          Hi Paul.

Yep both receivers ( sk-720 & AR8000 ) are bound to two difrent slots on my dx8.

Done the same on both receivers and moving from 50% all the way up to 150% with no change to the ice 50.

Yep I can hear the the beeps when I am moving up the endpoints from 50% to 150% but no beeps from the ESC or change to the red light.

          Strange.

Are you going to full throttle, then powering up the ESC?

Other than that, im out of ideas.

Have you got the PC link for it?
I got the field link card, serves as a link and field programmer rather than just the link.

You could try a 'reset' there.
It will also allow you to see the current ESC settings.
Something may be set by the previous owner that does not suit your setup.
Also allows you to upgrade to latest firmware.

I bought a second hand ICE 50 and still learning it so can't offer too much advice.

Do you have a manual, available on the web if not, may give you some ideas, I sorted a couple of my problems by having a read.
I set tranny to straight line throttle curve, set end points for throttle to 80% each end, powered up at full throttle and adjusted end point until beeped, waited a few seconds, dropped to low throttle and adjusted lpw throttle end point to beep.
There are error codes listed in the user guide.

                I
missed the obvious when setting mine but a bit of reading and using the PC link helped, just got the governor to sort now.
                Good Luck

I don't have a specific idea for this case, but if you haven't got one, the PC interface is really useful, and might show up a set-up issue.

[FWIW, you've got the same config as me there.]
