How does bubble-less clunk work?

Well ive just recently purchased a bubble less clunk (HT Bubble Less Clunk A148) for my 600le and have found it to work really well with the engine running very consistant,
Just out of interest how does it work?

It breaks up the bubbles/filters the bubbles out of the fuel as it passes through it
