  • DX6I - AR6210 help

Can some one help me please as i bought a brand new dx6i yesterday and was up till 2am trying to get the damn rudder to work on my twister 3d storm . on the RX there are 7 different servo slots starting with BIND (which iv done) , then THROTTLE , then AILE , then ELEV, then RUDD, then GEAR , then AUX. So can someone please tell me which servos on the heli (looking tail in ) correspond to which text on the RX . i am assuming after binding the heli to the RX the bind slot on the RX will remain empty , and that the trottle slot is for the ESC . but im not sure which servo on the heli itself is aile / elev /gear /aux etc . so far on the TX programing i have selected model 1 , name , type (heli), swash type (120).

      Hi mate

I'm not familiar with the Twister or it's gyro type, but, typically for a 120 swash CP:

      Left cyclic to ail
      Right cyclic to aux
front or rear cyclic to ele
      esc to Thro
Rudder servo plugs into the gyro
gyro 3 wire lead to rudder channel
gyro 1 wire lead to gear

It is confusing as the cyclic outputs on a 120 head don't correspond to the sticks they are named after. You can work it out by just connecting the servos to ail, elev and aux1. When you use the aileron stick two servos should move. Those two are the ones that go either side of the centre line. So the other servo goes to the servo on the centre line. It doesn't matter which of the other two goes left or right as you adjust that with the servo direction, so that the swash rolls in the right way. You do have to have the 120 swash selected in the tx and the Twister Storm Manual instructions are wrong for the DX7/6i . The mix figures are ok but one of them needs to be changed from positive to negative or vice versa.

Boggy did a post on taming the Blade 400 which is the same setup. I think its a sticky. Blade 400 info is usually better than Twister info.

thanks guys , just a thought ..... the chap in my LHS said to relocate the gyro as static disscharge may have been causing me my last problem so i have relocated it under the battery tray which is flat and inline with the boom , but the gyro is now upside down so will this effect rudder control .

It wont effect the way it performs but its likely to effect your rudder reversal so make sure you check rudder direction and gyro direction before flying.

If you are not sure how to check this on the bench have a look here

Try plugging the rudder servo directly into the rudd channel on the RX. Also make sure you have 100% travel on both directions

I changed txs a while ago and it made a big difference. I should have measured the setup I was ok with and setup the new tx the same. It might be a good idea to pretend that your heli is likely to be out of trim and very difficult to fly. Perhaps even go back to just trying a hop to start. Hopefully the new tx will behave like the old one, but I think its better to assume it might not be and you could go backwards for a bit.
