  • Reflex lead - changing the plug.

Does anyone know if I can take the Futaba square plug off my reflex lead and solder on a 3.5mm mono jack so I can plug it in to my Sektrum tx?

you just unplug the adapter and plug the lead straight into the tx

Ade, It's reflex. I only have one lead for the dongle with the futaba plug on the end - no adaptors

I'm guessing it's PPM output so it would be the same signal, just a different connector??

I think the Reflex leads are all in one, or at least the part from the dongle to the Tx is, unlike the Phoenix leads which have a short adaptor to plug onto the end of the long lead with a standard JR connector on the end.

I think you can buy spare Reflex leads (without dongle) from some model shops for about a fiver... I definitely saw them in Leeds Model shop ages ago. Whether they still have them or not, I dunno

        Cheers,

Thanks Rob. It's the fact that Pheonix has a set of adaptors that makes me thing I can unsolder the Futaba plug and pop on a JR one and it'll work.
I have the plugs kicking around but didn't want to risk it in case the dongle gets upset. (and I'm too tight to spend a fiver on a new lead )
          Cheers, Lee.

            oops sorry!!

from memory the reflex <spit> lead is an RJ11 into the USB dongle...

but that doesnt matter, yes all you need to do is cut the plug off, open it up identify the wires you need.

            and compare to this:

            http://www.rc-electronics.co.uk/buddy2.htm

            spektrum is same as JR

That's what I thought. I'll snaffle a plug from work and convert my lead. BINGO, money saved for beer

                Just tried it...
Cut the Futaba plug off leaving a bit of lead and put a 3.5mm jack on and it works a treat with the Spektrum tx.
Better still, I put a 3.5mm in line socket on the bit I cut off and now I can use either should I get another Futaba tx. Marvellous
                Cheers, Lee.

                  Thanks for all the info.
Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I have the same problem: I'm trying to get my Spektrum DX6i to fit the XTR dongle. I think my DX6i uses a 3.5mm stereo jack and I have no idea which of these 3 wires goes to which of the mini-usb pins. Had a look at the link but it shows the mono, not stereo plug. Any ideas gratefully received.
