  • S3050 capability?

I purchased this servo (for my vision 50 tail) after I was recommended it, but only because I was too impatient to wait for the servo I originally wanted to come into stock.
Now I'm questioning whether or not I can use this as a tail servo, it just doesn't seem quick enough 0.16 sec/60 deg. More than half the speed of the Ds620 which is what I originally wanted
So I thought I could maybe used it on the throttle, but I remember reading (can't remember where) that these servos have been know to burn out on the throttle. So now what do I do? :/

I wouldn't, ideal throttle servo though. It's what I use. Never had one burn out.

S3050 is a 6V rated servo. I've used them a lot on 6V plane setups over the years.

I can't remember the exact specs but I guess the one you quoted is at 6V maybe. If you're running at 4.8 or 5V then it will be even slower.

That servo has never been promoted by Futaba as a tail servo. It's far too cheap for starters!

The 3050 is definitely not a tail servo, and they're only rated at 0.16 seconds if you're running them at 6v

For a tail servo, to get anywhere near good performance the speed has to be at least less than 0.10, preferably around 0.07 or 0.06.

If you have a slow servo to start with, under load it will be even slower, all servos will, on a heli in the size range of 50 to 90 you need about 3.5kg of torque, any more than that isn't really going to help much, so as long as you've got that then the important thing is it's speed rating, then it's deadzone, ideally a tail servo should have 0 deadzone for accuracy, since it's being controlled by a gyro it will not need to be centred to a neutral position like the other servos.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Again thanks guys. If I'd known this when I was offered it I would have turned it down, but never mind. At least I have a throttle servo now
