  • TDR Gears - Grease or Lube?

I used this on my TDR - TRI-FLOW Grease with Teflon TF23004

What is everyone else using? It went black and started to go really sticky. I have cleaned it all off but not sure what to use.

My new bird prefers the lube on her bits, helps with the friction problems she gets................

Generally machined Delrin gears are by the very nature of the material self lubricating, if you use any grease or oil it will attract dirt and debris over time and this mixes with the grease or oil and becomes an abrasive paste so this will decrease the life of the gears unless you clean and re-apply regularly.

That Triflow stuff is good James, like Ben Bruv, I simply use Futaba grease on the gears. Give them a clean once a month or so (depending how grotty they get) with a tooth brush and re-apply.

On my other bird, well, she prefers tried and tested KY, the other stuff just stings!

Jan recommends it on the TDR. Just put a small amount on the gear, it will soon find its way around all the teeth. If you put to much on, it will fling everywhere and make a right mess. Just use a tiny bit on a couple of teeth. Put it on all the plastic gears to help keep the heat down. Alot of guys are doing this on the Logos as well.

I have the Pronatur PTFE lube. I use it on the main shaft etc. not much, just a tiny bit. Would this be any good for the gears too? Also, not sure if I should use a tiny bit on the feathering shaft as I'm not sure how it'll treat the dampeners.

I use the Triflow Grease which is Silicone/PTFE based but any grease/oil which is listed as suitable for O-Rings will be fine.
                        Thanks!

I am using Moly Kote (EM-30L). I apply it on the gears with a painter's brush, just use a small amount of grease.

Never lube delrin gears is my view - unless its an enclosed gearbox which to be honest most aren't these days....
