Firstly let me say that I am fairly new to Nitro so if this is a daft question please forgive me.

I took my Velo 50 out for a hover this afternoon and noticed that the engine was behaving strangely as I power up.

All is fine at idle but when I start to increase the power the engine revs start to rise but then drop off before picking up again. It's happening at fairly low revs...well below the hover, but I really don't know why. I've checked my curves and all is fine there. (Pitch is 26, 38, 50, 75, 100 and throttle is 0, 20, 40, 60, 80)

Anybody got any ideas or seen this before?

p.s. the engine has only had about 1 tank through it from new.
    cheers,

    Mick

As its a new motor I'd say it still running rich how warm is the back plate after the flight, if it's stone cold then turn you main (high) needle a few clicks clockwise you don't want the back plate hot but a slight warm would be ok till it's run in correctly.
Don't over do it it needs to run rich for the first gallon or so,

Thanks very much for the advice. I'm hopefully flying again on Sunday so I'll see how cool the backplate is after a tank and adjust the high needle if needed. I think it's running very rich at the mo. I've set the high needle as per the manual (2 turns anticlockwise) and its very smokey. I'm sure it could live with a few clicks lean until properly run in.

Do you think the rev problem will sort itself out when the engine is run in or will I have look at adjusting the mid range needle?
        cheers,

        Mick
