  • Fury 55 My new Heli

Finally started building the fury55, had the kit for about 9 months and just finished getting the bits together to build it, (been working on a uav project) so thought i'd post a few pics.
Managed to get the 55-HZ Limited, slough rc did it for a good price. I think the only difference is the colour and the writing

Bought the fly-barred version, but after flying my stratus last weekend with the tempest FBL mod, i'll buy the FBL head and put the other one on fleabay
heliphil sold me his cgy750, (good guy), It was a really easy setup on the stratus, don't see the point of using anything else, all my radio is futaba, just my preference.
There seems to have been a run on BLS451's so will go with the BLS452's that i have. They were meant for the spectra. Then its just the choice of which tail servo.

    Here's a couple of pics.

I'll post a few more when its built.

I have both stratus and fury 55s in flybared and flybarless.
Wont be buying another flybarred heli with the jump in performance offered by the flybarless modification.
Used the futaba GY750 and to date both have been flawless.

Looking good, the kit goes together really well - my only advice would be to change the stock struts as they are a little flimsy... The JR Vibe 50 can be fitted without any additional drilling.

Also check your main shaft as the early kits had an issue in the hardening of the shafts which meant the oneway locked - from memory the old shafts are solid and the new ones are hollow.

Other than that it's a great heli, very smooth and predictable.

I have seen the JR vibe struts, will be ordering a set of them, they look better too.
I think i have the old style shaft, may well order the hollow one, thanks for the heads up
Just finished the tail, yeah its a good machine to build. Looking forward to flying it.

Just been out and bought a new throttle servo - went with a S9451, was wondering if you can bog an engine if the throttle moves too fast 0.10 @ 6.0v, Most of the time the throttle servo gets overlooked. (maybe that's just me)
          Any thoughts?

            Looking good :-)

I had an earlier solid mainshaft which locked up on it's maiden

Fitted the newer hollow unit , Not had a problem since

            It's a shame as i don't fly it anymore

            Prefer my leccy's now :-)

Just as a note, not all the solid main shafts are faulty, just a select batch of them. Mine has had two solid main shafts, without issue.

Great heli, i'm little annoyed with mine at the moment after a snapped tail belt wrapped round the mechanics and caused a major crash, still just bad luck

There have been some instances of the belt snapping on the Furion 6 and the Fury 55, Both of them had a slack tail belt..Both machines like a tight tension

To the OP, You'll love the Fury 55, and you'll sure enjoy the simplicity of it compared to the past MA machines!

No, quite the opposite actually. If the throttle were to open too fast FROM IDLE and the engine was cold or poorly tuned THEN the engine may bog down and stall. As we are talking about an engine already revving highly then that engine can respond almost instantaneously to any throttle movement no matter how fast the throttle servo is. At 17,000 rpm a 2 stroke engine can respond/change its power output every 0.004 seconds. The faster the throttle response the better, dedicated tail servos work very well with governors.
