  • Anyone used an old gyro - ACT Z Competition Gyro?

    Hey folks,

As per title, does anyone have any experience with the ACT Z-competition gyro?

    Test ACT Kreisel

I got one on an old model here, and just trying to work out if there is a way to identify which lead is used for gain, and which for rudder input from rx? They both seem to have 3-wires as opposed to the single gain wire on modern gyro's - didn't want to get it wrong!

Not sure if these gyro's are any good or not due to limited info that I can find, at least in english, and I'm not sure if I should slap my spare 401 on the model or stick with this one.

    Cheers!

It doesn't matter if you connect it incorrectly, all that happens is that the tail does not control properly; in which case just swap them over. many of the older gyro's were not very well marked to let you know which was which. Is it any good, depends on what you expect and comparing to a 401 is like comparing an old car to a modern car: may perform as well but is not as refined.
