  • Pro 2k question

    Hello everyone,

I have the mentioned heli,,, been on my book case in the living room for a few years. Flown carefully once in a garden to trim after build. Is fully loaded and has all the carbon and alloy components,, it has the best of everything i could get at the time, even have the Wc2 model 2 radio gear,,, so lot of money spent. It is the last in a line of helis i have owned and about the time I brought it i started my own business and brought a house abroad and it just sits there.

I will never fly this with other commitments and hobbies taking up all my time. My question is simply what should i do with it? sell it whole or break it for parts? what is it worth now and where would be the best place to advertise it.

If anyone can offer sensible advice i would appreciate it as I have been away from helis for a few years and have lost touch with the sport.

    Regards, Alan.

I think the best places to list it for sale would be the BMFA classifieds and Runryder. The value depends so much on
what engine and electrics are on it, what the overall condition is etc. there's no way to even begin to guess without
    knowing the details.

Generally speaking you can usually get more in total by splitting up a heli as the indivdual electrics and engine, pipe
and stuff might have more wide appeal. The value of the bare airframe on an older heli like that will vary quite a bit
with just the timing of who might be looking at any given moment.

I remember some time ago seeing a Pro 2K with a fourstroke engine and I asked someone about
spares (don't recall now if I spoke to the UK distributor or a dealer) and was told that
some parts may be hard to get now. So parts cost and / or availability is a factor in resale value
    as well.

Really think that if you want to get rid of it all is to sell it complete. I understand that the heli, and radio were top of the range at the time, but trying to even get half or even quarter of the cost of what you bought it for separately is tbh going to be a struggle. The pro 2k was from I recall a £2000 airframe?? You won't get that anywhere even a quarter for the airframe now. The WC2 radio.. I think you will struggle to get £200. Would hazard a guess that the engine will probably be the 60 or maybe 70 size? which tbh no one buys nowadays...

Sell it complete as rtf, and get rid of it all together to maybe someone who has started in the hobby, or wants a bigger heli, and it should go as a complete setup. Break it apart, I think you maybe be left with bits you cannot or struggle to sell.

I'm with Trilian on this one, if you try to sell it complete you are looking for a buyer who is interested ion older models and needs old radio gear as well which is a much smaller market than finding people looking for the various parts of what the OP has to offer.

This isn't like selling a package suitable for a beginner where it is likely the same person needs everything on offer.

If you do go the 'all or nothing' route, just be prepared for 'nothing'

To add some balance to th mix, I'm with Andy

If you split, the chances are you will find it difficult to sell the electrics (depending on age). If people are interested in an older Heli, chances are they would be more interested in those elecs than most.

As Andy said too, you can sell it RTF, which would also interest a lot more people.

This is why it is so dependent on exactly what electrics, blades etc. are on it. Case in point, I recently bought a Robbe Milli 2 and even using the most
pessimistic rock bottom 2nd hand values, the electrics, engine, pipe and blades separately would have sold for more than I paid. Then the bare airframe
is worth at least something as spares and would have just been an extra bonus.

It is certainly more trouble to split but as to whether one approach is going to net more money the answer is; it depends. :-)

Main thing I read from the OP is that he is never going to take up on this hobby again, and being left with parts that he has split up is probably not the ideal thing. Breaking it all up and trying to sell an older gyro, motor, etc I don't think there maybe much interest... and after some effort trying to off load them, you maybe still left with them.

I am not saying to sell it to a beginner..... but sure some fairly competent flyers would love to own and buy the airframe/electrics..and then stick a 2.4ghz receiver in and its rtf.

...and maybe sell the TX separately.

if you give an idea of the value you consider to what its worth then we can comment on if your in the baal park or not
but don't get upset if somebody says its worth a lot less than you think it is

All very good info and i'm very greatful to all here. To be honest i am far too busy to split and i would love to sell to someone who will fly and enjoy the heli. Obvioulsy this set up is not for a novice. I would prefer not to do the fleabay thing but i also do not know where to sell such an item. I'm realistic about what it is worth,,, i am not looking to cover original cost in any way shape or form,,,,, and i have no idea what it is worth??,,,maybe it will remain on the bookshelf forever???!!!

well.. In its time the Pro 2K was the dogs danglies.. Could never have afforded one then, and always dreamt of owning one!

Still, would love to own one now though
