  • Whiplash coming soon and more ramblings... :)

Hey guys, it has been a while since I've logged on. I have been super busy, but definately a "good" busy. I had a great experience in Europe centered around the 3d Masters competition, and the After Party funfly put on by the Flight Club. I flew to Ireland, where I met up with David Nolan. He showed me around his home town for a day, and then we got the Navara packed up and headed towards The Netherlands. We drove across England, and even made an unscheduled stop at Midland Helicopters, (which is a great shop, no matter what brand you fly) and I even purchased an MCP X from them.

We made it to the 3D masters event, and had a nice time even with all the rain. I met A LOT of great people there (whom I won't name as I'll surely forget someone). Bobby demo'ed the Whiplash, and competed in the Synchronised flying, and Night flight with it as well (both of which he won, I'm happy to say)

After the 3D Masters, we made our way to the After Party Funfly. I realized "party" was in the name, but I had no idea how great it would be! Lee Harris and his wife put on an absolute fantastic event!! I will admit, this was the best event I have ever attended, hands down, (I will always remember the white tent fondly) Lukas Riva, Tareq, Raquel, and Bobby, along with some others put on some great flying.

Back to my original reason for posting, we are nearly done with the Whiplash. It is in the final stages of production as we speak. I think we're going to see an late August/Early September release. Yes, it's going to be a bit more expensive than some of the other popular brands, as the labor costs in the U.S. are pretty steep, but when you get down to it, there is truth to the saying, "you get what you pay for". What do you get with this model? I'll give the basics: Designed by Bobby Watts (for Bobby Watts), meaning he had the freedom to design the heli that HE wanted. We use "real" aircraft quality aluminum, not the "unclassifiable" alloy's that other popular brands use. We use "real" high quality carbon fiber, yes the same stuff used in the full scale aviation industry. You get a really nice CanoMod canopy, you get the support of a company that actually gives a d*** about it's customers (Yes, I'm still an avid r/c heli enthusiast) and you get the opportunity to call me up (we're only about 7 or 8 hours difference time zone wise), and tell me personally exactly what you think of it...lol.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, and we'll chat again soon. btw, my email is brian.james@miniatureaircraftusa.com if you have any questions

Great to hear that the Whiplash is almost ready. One of my club mates is desperately wanting to get his hands on one (actually two!!!). He has all the gear to go in them and is constantly on the phone to Fast Lads wanting to know the delivery date!!!

I must say, not having had a MA heli before, the Whiplash looks awesome and I may be tempted to get rid of my 700's!!! But we'll see.........

As soon as I get my hands on a kit, I'll be straight onto a build thread/review. Just like I did with the Fury 55
"Anger and Frustration bring the best out of my flying ability.. because generally I don't give a shit either if the machine hit's the deck or stay's in the air - both will accomplish satisfaction, but most of all it exerts the feeling of flying conservatively. - Callum"

How strange is that. I've just watched all three tonight after my club mate Backdraft told me about them. He's really itching to get his hands on a Whiplash, so much so, he's meantime just bought a Furion 6 to get him through the next few weeks until he gets his hands on a Whiplash!!!

You'd have to be a lot braver than I am to put a Castle ESC in the provided location on this model.

Great to see a different take on some of the basic design features though.
