  • Vario Ecureuil - internal painting advice wanted

Am assembling a vario Ecureuil scale body for a trex 600E.
    Painting questions:

    1) What type of paint should I use to paint the inside of the fuselage?

    2) The cockpit - made of lexan (?) - Do I paint on the Inside or the Outside of the lexan bits & again what type of paint do I use ??

If the inside is subject to Nitro fuel, use any paint you want, but then you have to fuel proof it with 2k lacquer.
    Not sure about 2.

      Heli is electric.

      Another question:

What type of glue to use to glue hardwood internal bulkhead structures? Some places say CA, some say 2-pack epoxy ?

What type of glue to fix the lexan 'canopy windows' to the f/glass body ?

as its for a 600e then you don't need to use fuel proof lacquer on it
as for the cockpit all the vario's ive seen have had the paint on the outside
        i use normal car paint
in my bell 47 cockpit the finer detail parts are painted with humbrol enamel paint

use slow setting epoxy glue on the bulkheads
the windows i use clear silicone sealer as you can remove the windows if needed and replace them without any trouble or damage to the window

            Thanks for that.
As you are so helpful, have you heard of what Americans call 'metal flight' ? I think it is a v. fine metal foil that can be rubbed on to plastic parts to make them shine like stainless steel.
What is it called in the UK ??

Some rc cars have lexan body shells.. I know they sell paints for those and usually paint on the inside of transparent shells.. check those suppliers and youtube vids.
You can get metal foils like gold leafing foils..size and rub on .. again check gold leafing sites for that sort of stuff

You could try something like FL1730 and FL1732 Aluclad and comes in 300mm X 640mm and 1000mm X 640mm rolled sheets. It's a self adhesive aluminium foil that can be burnished onto curved surfaces and then polished to a high gloss shine and sealed with laquer. Many warbird builders use it
                Sussex models sell it: Aluclad
                VIC.
