  • Clear Coat in a can...

    Hi All,

I'm in the process of stripping down and repainting some scale fuz's. I'd like to keep things simple and use car spray paint that I can purchase from Halfords etc etc. Does anyone know of a 2K product that will protect against nitro fuel and is in a can??

Seems that in the US they have a product...

SprayMax 2K Urethane Aerosol Clear Coat

    Many thanks

    Steve

Im sure the normal stuff isnt fuel proof ??

On motorcycle tanks I had to buy a special petrol proof lacquer, it was harder and didnt react to fuels.

i use flair fuel proof lacquer
              and halfords petrol proof lacquer
in the wrong conditions (ie freezing cold) they can take a while to cure

but i've not yet had any problems with nitro fuel on the lacquer

On these 2K aerosols that have an activator, I assume that once the activator is released you have to use it right then. So once it sets any left in the can is useless?

Is there any fuel proof clear coat in an aerosol that doesn't need an activator / hardener? I just need to fuel-proof a canopy and I'd rather not spend the better part of £20.00 on something I can only use once. :-o

use the halfords petrol proof lacquer
just make sure you clean the nozzle out when you've finished and it will be good to go on the next pant job
