    Helibug 600 kit has arrived!

    Well after a bit of a delay my Helibug 600 kit has arrived which is good news, the bad news is I'm still trying to source an engine for it! If I can find one I'm going with the Zenoah G240RC to start with. The main reason for this being if it's o.k. I leave it as is, if it's underpowered I have a brand new 26 cc barrel and piston I can swap onto it if needs be.
    I've ordered another Zimmeman 3D gas muffler as I have one on my 700 and really like it. I'm hoping an engine will be here on Tuesday when the next delivery is due to arrive. If it does then I'll be flying it next weekend.

    I've always found daves discount motors pretty quick on postage if nothing UK...obvious problems with customs delays, though

      Problem there Peter is that all but once I've been hit by customs with stuff coming from the States.

        I usually get stiffed customs from US too..but at least ya gets the parts!

          gonna build one myself. might just put a G260/270 in it. same dimensions & weight as the 230?

            The main reason for trying to source the G240 is that I'd like to try it with the 23 first and then if needs be I can put the 26 barrel and piston that I have on if it lacks enough power. It will probably end up with the 26 but it would be nice to have a choice, especially with the 600 having such a small fuel tank.

              ah yeah the small tank, i forgot that! do you think the 260 is gonna be much juicier than the 230/240?

                440ml .. near as darn it 16oz tank..same as my spectra which goes esy 10 mins with at least 5+ mins reserve (you can't see the tank and I have reasn to play way too safe).. and that's on a ported 3DMax.

                I'd expect you'ld get a safe 14 mins asuming you can concentrate that long.. can always add a header for another minute and run the main tank right out..

                  this kit uses an 8oz tank, so run times are defo gonna be more limited

                    Well it looks like I'll have to go with the G270 as the hoped for delivery of G240's didn't materialise and I'm now told they're on back order. Richy I've got a 10oz tank as well to see if I can squeeze it in but I won't know until I get an engine and start building it.

                      ..interesting ..had assumed same tank (of course)..

                      That is going to be limiting particularly if using a big felt clunk and trying to keep some of it buried...?

                        Having just returned from my hols I can hopefully crack on with the conversion, assuming my LHS have got in the exhaust and other bits I ordered. The 10 oz tank is a very tight fit so I'm not sure whether to go with it or not, I'm just a little concerned that being so tight vibration may cause a split or leak.

                          does the tank not go under the nose cone?

                            The 8oz tank goes under the nose cone and slides easily between the side frames whereas the 10 oz tank only fits between the side frames with a slight squeeze.
