      I have a V1 zoom heavily upgraded by heliup bling it's a
realy sweet little hovering machine that wont put the fear of god up you.
They do a beveled tail gear upgrade contact the guy at blink & im sure he can supply most of your needs for your zoom m8
      Enjoy

To be honest mate what Ade says is ,true not to many fly Zooms anymore! There are better alternatives, I only have the ordinary tail drive not the beveled one or belt & it sux, I loose two to three gears per day flying it on grass. Not long back maybe 3 weeks or so I decided to invest in a better heli, I bought a Thunder Tiger Mini Titan & put all my gear from the zoom into it the kit was £100 & I bought a better motor & controller for £70 an align 430L & 35 amp controller its a far better heli & I nolonger bust tail gears as it is belt driven.
If I were you & ypu want to keep the zoom flying I would buy the bevelled gears & not upgrade to the cnc belt driven kit because the upgrade alone is going to be £35 & you have to cut away the side frames for it to fit.
There is a guy on ebay sells a kit that will make your zoom belt driven but it requires alot of work, if your good at making things try it it's only £12 plus post! Get lots of spare beveled gears from blink & a large piece of thin plywood board to fly from if at the feild or just fly off tarmac, that will save those tail gears mate.

                Hi
i put many many flights on a zoom 400 a few years back
                my advice is
                save your money.
they are good learning helis for hovering fast forward flight ect.
I fully blinged mine. It was a waist of money, the cyclic movement was slow because of the weight i added in upgrades, it also lost its (punch) climb power.

I even went as far as, extending the flybar, extra light humming bird carbon paddels, i even got my dremmel out on the swash plate and ground loads of it away to get more throw on it.

now days the zoom450 air frame is not to expensive i still fly my 450 every now and then, The 450 is much beter.
If you get the chance upgrade to the 450, transplant all your equipment over from the 400.
quite alot of the 400 parts are the same as 450 so your spares are still of use to you.
I rember the tail gears are not forgiveing but for what the belt upgrade kit will cost, your over half way to the price of a 450 airframe.

If you want realy fast cyclic ect the Trex 450 is probably the way to go. I just wanted to be different so i stuck with the zoom.
                just some food for thorght.
                Ivor

I learnt on a Zoom a couple of years back.. It's been ravaged for it RC parts now, but I still have it.. The tail gear on mine would go if it even SAW a blade of grass.. :( I just had a load of spare ones to compensate..

If I were to start again, I'd follow the advice I was given, and go for a 30 size Heli as they are more stable, but even so, the Zoom proved a good starting point and was cheap-ish to crash, which I did alot..

I've heard you can buy a 450 upgrade which comes with only the bits you need, might be worth looking at next time you nail it..??
