  • CY Total G Trex 450 Pro

Hi, does anybody know when the total G unit hits the market?
most of the online shops were expecting it at the end of March???

Any idea if it will fit on the bottom plate of the trex 450 Pro? I ordered this heli and thinking to go FL with the CY unit....
    any thoughts?

    thanks!

It measures 45 x 34 x 15mm and weighs 20 g. Don't have a pro myself but judging by when i last saw one, i'd say it might be a bit big for it, however, i stand to be corrected..

Maybe a mini Vbar would be more suitable.. or you could go for the Align 3G system.. I'm sure one of the flybarless experts on this forum would step in and give you a good recommendation for what to go for..

Also waiting to try this system as well. But it seems no stores has it yet. It has been more than a month than the expected release date.

Curtis' blog on allmyrc said the other day that he is just trialling some final software revisions and qc'ing the final units, so im sure it wont be long, maybe another 3-4 weeks by the time they are shipped?

rumour is it doesn't land very well. the vids we have seen have had some sort of gain switch that needed flicked to land apparently. not sure how true that is but i guess they are not a million miles away.

            cheers

That switch version was testing the idea out apparently. The production units have it built in, so I believe. It senses the lower rpm and adjusts the gains automatically to try and stop the issues.

I think thats chinese wispers at work there, i will land and more importantly auto better than the current systems what it has is a set of in built peremeters that are automatically selected when you hit hold to prevent things like the Align tip over etc.

On a general note, when you see the Rave Env hit the shops the Total G will also be available.

What? I reckon you're on your own there. Has your heli ever tipped over and smashed itself to smithereens at all?

everyone in my club sometimes lands in idle up so i guess i'm not alone! i would say they do it all the time but i can't honestly say.

                        to answer your question, no.

it's not a big deal, land and as you transition from 0 degrees you flick out of idle up.

                        cheers

Wow I'm genuinely shocked. We all use throttle hold and auto in even if it's only from a few feet.
So your heli is on the deck and and the blades are doing 2000rpm what do you do then go back to normal mode and go to low throttle?

I'm not being sarcastic or facetious I'm interested.

The CY unit I would guess knows you are landing because the headspeed is decaying like during an auto and adjusts the gain accordingly. It could only know this because the governor has been disabled because the throttle cut switch has been hit or you are at a throttle level where the governor is not enabled. I'm just guessing though until the unit is out.

                              Its not so weird.

You either hold the stick near the 1/4 position so its slightly pushing down, then go to normal mode and go to bottom stick, or if you've set up throttle hold to have the same pitch range as your idle up curves you just hit throttle hold and then flick the idle up switch to normal and then hit the throttle cut switch.

Personally I do all the mode switching on the ground, both before and after landing, this way you dont have to have the heli hover at the same stick position in all modes, which would cause an inflight jump or drop.

This way I can have normal mode set up so that it doesnt have a horizontal part on the pitch curve, but uses all the sticks range of motion in all modes, handy if you want a precision flight mode along with the 3D modes.
