  • saying hi and after some advice to.

hi all as above really im looking for some advice.
okay took the rebuilt raptor v2 out to day after it being grounded for the winter had already checked everything over so thought i would be okay gave her the once over @ the field & then proceeded to start her up....... hot start!!! also being on my own didn't help so could have been quicker but in the heat of the moment panicked and didn't think to put throttle to max power which would have slowed it as l found out later somehow the throttle channel on my spektrum tx had somehow reversed itself so after some 20 secs of burning clutch fumes and smoke i finally pulled the fuel line..phew it may have been well less than 20 secs but in the heat of the moment who knows?.
so heres the question the engine sounds fine and flew the heli for a tank of fuel afterwards without incident the fuel tank and engine body is coated in clutch dust should i worry? i dont want to pull the engine because ive only just got the heli backtogether and im pretty sure you have to split the frame to get the engine out?(ps the engine is a irvine 39) as i mentioned the engine seems to be running smoothly and quietly so have i got away with it,also if i do end up pulling the engine are the clutch liners easy to replace and are they engine manufacture specific? or will any 30 sise liner do,also if i do have to replace the liner and its to much bother or i cant find a liner what do you guys recommend as a good engine for the rappy 30 that will fit straight in?
Sorry for the long post im a long time lurker of the forum but don't have much time to post normally.
On a side note it was great to fly again after the intial moment..... and after a few minutes i was back into the swing of things again which suprised me as i havent had hardly any sim time this winter either.
    cheers

Sounds like you got away with it.

The engine is a 2 min job to drop & getting the clutch out is not too involved either.

What you do have to split the frames for is to replace the clutch shaft & main bearings.

Just bought some of those myself so not looking forward to all that work!

If it still flies OK, leave it alone.

      cheers.
will take your advice, forgot the engine was basically held in with 4 bolts, and you had to split the frames for main bearings etc to be replaced just didn't want the hassle of doing it again if i dont have to has like i mentioned i have only just done a complete rebuild over winter which included bearings all around, belt, servos etc so not a great start to a re maiden flight still like you say seems i have got away with it this time i seem to recall the clutch liner had plenty of material on it when i done the rebuild so guess i could get away with losing a little what i dont get is how the throttle servo reversed itself as when i started the heli up in garden after the rebuild all was well so very odd, also i keep losing the bind on my spektrum rx so if anyone has thoughts on that i would like to hear it(only lose bind when heli has just been powered up after not being switched on for a while) not in flight.
Great to be flying again though.
      thanks.
