  • Flycam on my 500

Im chuffed that i have managed to get rid of the wobbly vision by using sticky thick foam on the cam to reduce vibes.

Heres a vid from yesterday....i was intending to just film the surroundings but ended up doing a few backward loops and stalls...i was tic tockin at the end of the flight but the lipo only seems to last 4mins,put another in last night so will see if it lasts longer next time...im tempted to put another lipo strapped to the outside, bigger mah....are they sinle cells?

Why not just power it off the batt port of your rx?

I have had to pull the foam off the cam to change lipo,it was just an experiment,i am going to put the foam on the heli,i will take a few pics for you when i do.

Gerd, can i do this without the FCO mount?

Can i just come straight off the rx batt port to existing camera lipo conector?

Your problem if you tried to run it without the fco mount is that you would have no way to make a power connection-pins at the top of the mount are numbered 4.3.2.1- Power has to be supplied thru pin 4 which is + and pin 3 which is negative.

I was thinkin,go from rx + - straight to the lipo conectors + - with a harness coming out of the cam casing?

Heres a few pics of the mounting with foam.I used 2 strips to fill the hollow then a fatter strip on top to cushion it from the frames. Then a simple cable tie to hold on the camera

Nice one Nick. Always tricky to get good results with the flycam. Nice flying.

                Cheers

That will work fine- using the mount just makes it look neater though,, And if its out of warranty, then no probs there either. Will try my flycam out when it stops raining !!!..

I use a spare rx channel socket to supply +5v to the flycam. Soldered direct to the contacts on the cam itself. Warranty is long out of date

Nick, as said you can do it without the FCO mount. Either solder some leads directly to the contacts on the fco or as you say directly to the + and - leads inside

Nice mount, thanks for the photos. I will be trying this when I build my 500 next week

Cool,i will make a few harness's up as i like to use it on the planks too

Will leave the harness on the 500,cant wait for a nice sunny day, like tommorrow

I reckon the lipo inside doesnt perform to well when its chilly,my Msr lipos kick in the low voltage after 30 seconds!

                              Yo Gav,

I was thinking about puting my flycam on the 500 so I'd be interested in how you connected the power suuply. I have a spare channel on the RX (AR7000). Perhaps when you are over next time you could run through that with me?

                              Cheers,
                              Simon
