• Gaui 200 upgrades

All,

I am looking at buying a Gaui 200, and am interested in any notes, upgrades or changes people think they need when building one for the first time.

I have seen the carbon tail push rod and that there are 2 motor mounting points. Any advice on upgrades or building tips for this model this would be great. :cheers2:

Thanks
Gareth

Make sure its the flybarless version, as that one flies really well from what I have seen.

thanks paul :boxing_smiley: the flybarless unit that comes with the gaui 200 fes is junk i'm replacing mine with a mini vbar :), go for the normal one, only thing i can think of is to get the micro heli boom supports for the 250 as they cut out a lot of tail vibrations

Hi,

Sorry, i didnt post which one i was looking at, its the Super combo. GAUI Hurricane 200 - Super Combo - £325.00 : TrexMAD, R/C Electric Helicopters - Specialist supplier of kits and spares for ALIGN T-Rex 250, T-Rex 450, T-Rex 600, ARK-X400, RJX X-treme
Any hints or tips would be great, i was going to get a set of flybar weights to tame it down a little, i also have the swash leveling tool to ensure it is all set up correctly.

I have heard that its tight with the radio install, has anyone got any photo's of how they have installed it?

Advice on the receiver would be good as well, i have the AR6110 and the AR6110e, but i dont know which is going to be better for the cable runs.

Thanks
Gareth

go for the 6110e it'll be much easier for the radio install. there's no problem fitting it all in if you use that size rx

Here's a picture... ;)

It flies fine (for indoor beginner stuff), but is rather untidy. I don't fit the canopy.

Note flybar weights, and battery monitor aft of CC ESC.

Oh yes..: CC Phoenix 25 ESC; Spartan DS760 (Quark is smaller) & LogicTech 3100G; Revolectrix 1500mAh 2S - big, but helps balance. Most people seem to use 800mAh LiPos.

Hi,

Thanks for the pic, it looks good, i will be getting an Align 750 as its smaller then the gaui 210.

I have 6 lots of 2s 740Mah from a robot (uni project) that i was going to use until they pack up then il get something more interesting.

Those seem like very big flybar weights, are they the standard ones?

IIRC, mine didn't come with any. However, the 100 came with 2 lots of brass ones, and thses big steel ones. These are the 'stability' weights for the 100. They have grub screws for setting the position on the flybar.

Are they smaller than the trex 250 as surely the electronic placement should be more accessible than that.

here's a few pics of mine, its a standard V1 with stock motor and ESC, ive had it a year but it hasnt had alot of use!

i added a plate to the frame for the gyro mount which is just a trex450 battery tray but works very well
and my reciever is strapped underneath!!

Thanks for the pics, that looks like a neat placement. I am loving the gyro mount.
Both heli's look good, its giving me ideas on where to start with the mounting.

The Gaui200 is a similar size to the Rexy250. they both use the same sized blades, the Trex uses a 3s pack, you can get them for the gaui but i think you need to change the motor and pinion.

I will be doing a build thread (once i get the model) on my club forum, i will put a link or a copy of the build on here. Would people read it? and might it get people looking at the gaui instead of the Trex?

I will get my self some of the trex tail supports and see how that goes.

Thanks for all the advice so far.
