  • Mounting gyro in back or front?

I am about to finish rigging up my Evo 50 and just want to get some thoughts on the mounting of the gyro.

There is a platform above the boom for mounting a gyro but there is also space up front.

So, is one location much better? (either location would put the gyro a similar distance and orientation to the direction of rotation)

I ran the large CSM 560 gyros on my Sceadus and always mounted them on the plate above the boom. They always worked faultlessly there......

As a matter of fact I am going to use either an SL560 or ICG540. If I use the 560 on the back I'll need a longer cable to reach the rx. I have the micro SL560 and it's tiny. It does not have cables attached so you can use a different length on it. With the 540 it would just require an extension to be added to the rudder and gain cables. And the 540 is so big!
