My son of 13 has just left South Africa and come to live with me. Thats the great part. Today I get home and he is on the sim, that I showed him how to use yesterday, and is hovering nose in, inverted!! He says "Hey dad this is cool, watch this." and does a loop. I can't do this yet. So what do I do, encourage him till he wants to try the real thing or ban him from the sim!!

I am sure that is a story we could all tell, with all the computer games today, kids seem to learn faster,
Get him up to full speed and then get him into the hobby, one thing for sure, you can use him as an excuse to get out to the field whenever you can.
