  • Tiger fuse with sky fox mechanics

Just bought a sky Fox to put in a scale fuselage.

I think I will get the Tiger, does anyone else fly this model as I would appreciate any advice as first scale project.

Also what servos and gyro should would you recommend?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Andy

The number of scale heli flyers on here is very small. There is of course nothing wrong with the scale heli scene, it's just that you're unlikely to get much of a response from the site users here.

You could consider contacting a few site users directly by PM who are into scale helis such as boggy, antsis, electricsceadu and petechristy but I'm not sure if any of them have much experience of Vario helicopters.

You could also try this other very good forum -> Scale RC Helicopters, Best place to find scale information on the Internet

    Hope this helps.

i don't fly a tiger but i do fly a bell 47 with the sky fox and it flies very well

with the raised tail make sure the middle gearbox is set up correctly and that the wire drive is to correct length and running free
you are better off using the torque tube upgrade, if using the flex (speedo cable type) drive use the len mount one and check it regularly

i would use the os engine not the rossi one and i would look at a 90 not a 60 or 70, you will need to check you have the correct gear ratio for the model/engine

on the rotor head 2 blade is fine if you go multi blade then go for the german OF head its miles better than the vario one so i'm told

servo's go for a good highish torque servo, you don't need a super fast servo for scale
with the tail servo you don't need a fast servo like a pod and boom machine you are better off going for extra torque

gyro a rate gyro is fine but most use the 401 in rate mode
for the tail control rod try not to use a snake
use either a solid wire supported in a brass tube and a bell crank at the bottom of the tail or a supported carbon rod with the bell crank method

for the bell crank i used a shuttle aileron bell crank on a lhc apatche (the snake control didn't control the tail on it)

and take your time building it, remember any part you need to cut out
measure twice cut once and always cut undersize and sand out

      a bunch of bls servo's and a 701 gyro

        Thanks for the advice guys.

As I thought a little more to it than just a "kit build".

Electricsceadu, having the gyro in rate mode sounds odd is this normal for scale? Also for the other things you mention are these parts upgrades Vario parts or is there a particular shop that is good for help on scale projects for all the other bits and pieces.

        Thanks again for your help.
